Weird Equinox launches

On March 19th 2011 Weird will put on the UK's premier single day conference. The event will be held in Warminster, Wiltshire and will be hosted by the well respected researcher Malcolm Robinson who will introduce five well known speakers. Covering subjects from Alien Abduction and Bogus social workers to Crop Circles and hauntings the event will feature Andy Russell, Mark Pilkington, Rob Whitehead, Lucy Pringle and Mike Hallowell.

The conference will be held at the Athenaeum, an atmospheric Victorian theatre in the town centre and will see a weird event return to the small Wiltshire market town for the third time since 2009. Warminster was once crowned the capitol of the UK when it came to UFO and related phenomena and is also in easy reach of Stonehenge and other attractions in the county.

With plenty of space for merchant stands and refreshments during the breaks, get ready for another exciting and informative event from the organisation that brought you the best conference in the UK in 2010 – Weird 10.

Tickets are £20 per person and are available via the Weird Events website or the Weird facebook page. The event timings have changed for Equinox and will begin later than normal at 10:00am. This should give plenty of time to travel to the town and find the venue. The conference will end at 6:30pm that evening.
For more details on the talks and the speakers please visit the Weird Events website.
Weird Equinox is sponsored by UFO Matrix Magazine.

New Speakers Announced for Weird 10

Philip Mantle, editor of the new UFO Matrix Magazine and very well known British author / co-author, publicist, lecturer, broadcaster and researcher of Unidentified Flying Objects joins our line-up for Weird 10. Philip will open the show with our host Malcolm Robinson and take part in the Saturday afternoon Question and Answer session.

We also welcome back to Weird the one and only Nick Pope.  2010 sees the 30th anniversary of Britain's most famous and compelling UFO case, the Rendlesham Forest incident. Former MoD official Nick Pope will review the evidence and sort the facts from the fiction. He will share the results of his 1994 cold case review of the incident, which among other things concluded that the original investigation had been fatally flawed by delay, procedural errors, confusion over jurisdiction, and poor information-sharing between the MoD and the USAF.
Nick will also update attendees on the very latest developments in relation to the Rendlesham Forest incident, including new information from recently released MoD files, ongoing FOI requests, a scheduled reunion of witnesses and various film and TV projects about the incident.

Our good friend Kevin Goodman opens the Weird 10 conference with a question. Why are we in Warminster. What was it about Warminster that captured the imagination of the ufology community for so many years?

Kevin will also join us in the Q&A session on the Saturday afternoon.

UFO Matrix Magazine

Philip Mantle has posted the following update on UFO Matrix - the sponsors of Weird 10.

I am pleased to announce that the new 100 page full colour newsstand publication UFO MATRIX MAGAZINE will be launched on July 29th 2010. The first issue will go on sale in the UK and can be purchased in all of the usual high street outlets. This new bi-monthly publication will deal with any and all aspects of the UFO subject.

This new publication is edited by Philip Mantle and assistant editor Malcolm Robinson. It has an international line-up of columnists including: Nick Pope (UK), Mike Hallowell (UK), Steve Johnson (UK), Peter Robbins (USA), Scott Corrales (USA), Clas Svahn (Sweden), Lee Paqui (Australia) and Sheryl Gottschall (Australia).

The first issue will see features such as: A Conversation with Kenneth Arnold by the late Bob Pratt and Roswell and the Senator by Don Schmitt. The Isodoro Ferri UFO landing case from Italy also demonstrates the international scope of this publication. We will also have UFO sightings, encounters, news and reviews and Dr David Clarke looks back at this years MoD UFO files in the UK. Some recent UFO photographs from different parts of the world are also featured. In short, if you are interested in the UFO subject then this magazine has something for everyone.

UFO MATRIX MAGAZINE will be published on July 29th 2010 and you can reserve your copy now at our web site: www.healingsofatlantis.com. At the moment we are only taking subscriptions from the UK and Europe but the USA/rest of the world will follow shortly.

UFO MATRIX MAGAZINE is also open to submissions from any interested parties and submissions enquiries should be directed to the editor at: philip@mantle8353.fsworld.co.uk

UFO MATRIX MAGAZINE are also pleased to announce that they are the official sponsors of this years WEIRD 10 conference.

24th April : UFO Lecture

Our next Weird Talking evening is on the 24th of April.  We welcome Andy Russell to Swindon.

Evidence of 'Defence Significance'

Andy will look at the MoD and their Freedom of Information Act releases and show there are items of defence significance that the MoD routinely 'loses'.

Andy Russell has been interested in UFOlogy since an early age prompted through personal experiences. As a clinical hypnotherapist and psychotherapist he has worked with many abductees to uncover their experiences. Andy appeared on the 2008 series of UFO Hunters featuring his investigations in the Cardiff Police Helicopter/UFO near miss incident. An interesting discovery for Weird Investigations

Where were you at just gone midday today? Me? Well I was hunched over in a five foot tall cellar underneath the busy city streets of Bristol being told by a man that I had only just met "This is the corner in which another person took a photo and caught a figure, which they think is the murderer."

Yes, I was on ghosty business once more at the beautiful Llandoger Trow (a pub said to be the inspiration for the Admiral Benbow Inn, in Treaure Island.) It was only a quick tour as my mum and I were actually in Bristol for something else, but as we were in the area we couldn't resist going to see the building we'd heard so much about that we'll be studying with Weird Investigations in April. Have you bought your ticket yet?

We weren't there to actually do any study or investigation, just to be shown around so that we could get a feel for the general lay out of the place and familiarise ourselves with the apparent ghost stories. Yet, interestingly enough we managed to debunk one story connected to the building within our first five minutes of being there.

See, the Llandoger Trow is reputed to be haunted by the spirit of a little boy who wears leg braces (that can be heard clicking and tapping as he walks around the building), as well as by a female prostitue on the main staircase, a murderer in the cellar (thus the reason I was hunched over in a five foot tall cellar eagerly trying to replicate the aforementioned ghost photo...) and the figures of two men dressed in period clothing who were said to have been caught on the Llandoger Trow's CCTV system when nobody was in the pub.

Anybody with any knowledge of Bristol haunts will tell you about the above ghosts as they're pretty legendary. Only... two of them were never experienced and were made up. Yet spread through word of mouth and the wonders of social media. Let me explain...

The Llandoger Trow is a listed building, and the manager told us that because it's listed they're not allowed to install CCTV systems in those rooms, thus there is no way that two ghostly men could have been seen on the Llandoger Trow's CCTV system by a previous manager from whom the story originated.

Simples.

I was surprised that this hadn't been published by the numerous teams and groups who have visited the Llandoger Trow. Then again maybe they're not as inquisitive as us Weird Investigation people? I cannot wait to get to the Llandoger Trow in April with Weird Investigations to look into the other reported hauntings because the building has so much character. You can almost picture pirates sitting in the seats having yet another drink.

Signing out for now,
Hayley

p.s. Thank you to Lisa and Abraham of the Llandoger Trow for being so hospitable, especially Abraham who fell down a five foot sheer drop just to take photos for us (Indiana Jones style!)

Almost there....

Hi!

We are just confirming our last speaker for the conference and then will open the ticket desk.  I hope this will be in the next few days.  I just thought it prudent to list all the speakers before selling any tickets.

Our podcast show has been delayed by 10 days and continues to be a point of fustration.  We have two shows to broadcast and these should be out by the weekend at the latest.  There is a lot of work going on at Weird central with the conference just to launch and things are very busy.

Malcolm Robinson is in Swindon on the 27th of March, so why not pop along and hear the facts and fiction about the Loch Ness Monster.  This is followed by three UFO talks in April, May and June.  We are going to announce our April speaker in a few days.

Why not get in touch if you have any questions.

Tuesday, 23 February 2010

New MoD Release

Weird investigations

As a contributor to this blog I suppose it's only fair that I make a contribution and what better to discuss that something I know a fair bit about.

I have been personally researching paranormal phenomena for just over five years and the one thing that became apparent to me very early on was the publics fascination with paranormal research and investigations and the popular paranormal events that are catered towards people with a general interest in 'ghost hunting.'

One thing that is for certain though is that such events don't actually give a true representation of what paranormal research really is like. I mean, watch a television show and it seems that paranormal investigations are adventure packed evenings full of weird goings-on. Lots of technical gadgets are used and the odd psychic or medium will communite with the spirits at the location and tell you exactly what is what. This isn't what it's like at all; or at least, it isn't what is should be like for an objective and rational team or researcher.

Many paranormal companies that put together experience packages for the general public normally cater to this image of paranormal investigation and in doing so mislead peoples view of what paranormal investigators are and what they do.

This is what makes Weird Investigations run by Weird Events completely different because the whole point of Weird Investigations is not to take you on what we tell you is a 'paranormal investigation' but to actually introduce you to paranormal investigation and to show you just what works and what doesn't.

We try our best to help you form a clearer picture of what does and does not work in regards to studying and researching a possible haunting. We don't claim to have the facts, however what we do have is a large collective of years of study and experience and an unbiased approach.

For example, many of the gadgets used by a proportion of paranormal investigation groups don't actually work in any proactive manner at a haunted location despite what they may tell you - at Weird Investigations you'll get a chance to see and use these gadgets and find out exactly what they do and do not do.

You'll also get to try your hand at table tipping or glass divination (if the location allows it) and see what it really is that makes these things work.

When we first came up with the idea of Weird Investigations it was so that we could help people to understand that what you see on telly, or read in some books and magazines and websites isn't always a true representation of the paranormal researc field.

You can't experience a paranormal investigation in one evening like many people claim - it just isn't enough time to cover all aspects of a case study. However, what you will experience in Weird investigations is a guide through what does and does not work, how it does or does not work and a clear introduction to paranormal investigations whilst getting to check out some truly fascinating places at the same time.

I hope this goes some way towards explaining what weird investigations are about, and if not why not leave any questions in a comment below?

The great uninformed masses

We featured on google news via a story run on the Swindon Advertiser for our talk on the 27th.  It did make us chuckle ironically at some of the uninformed comments posted on the article.

It is unfortunate that a small minority of people who seem to have nothing better to do than sit on the computers commenting on subjects they know nothing about, have such a negative and outdated view of ufology in the UK today.

However, they did keep the story in the Top Ten Reads section!!

Trystan is going to be a great guest speaker for Weird and I for one, cannot wait to hear what he has to say!  Details on the talk can be found on our Talking page.

Finally, the latest episode of our podcast Clear Air Turbulence is out.  (Perhaps I should rename it 'Hicks Bashing Cast - lol!).  Have a listen to this topical, amusing and pretty unique podcast.  We also have interviews with well known researchers and investigators including the Starchild Project, Joe McGonagle, Dr. David Clarke, Nick Pope.  Our next interviews are with Trystan Swale and Malcolm Robinson.   Go on, give us a listen!
